Educational Philosophy:

Lake Geneva Joint #1 3-Year-Old Preschool was established for the purpose of providing quality early academic readiness, building a strong base around social-emotional well being, and creating a culture that will help foster a pleasure in learning to young children. We believe that 3-Year-Old Preschool, not mini-first grade, is about using play, social interactions and language experience to educate and help children grow.

We believe in the following principles:

  • All children are capable & competent
  • Early relationships matter
  • A child’s early learning and development is multidimensional
  • Expectations for children must be guided by knowledge of child growth and development
  • Children are individuals who develop at various rates
  • Children are members of cultural groups that share developmental patterns
  • Children exhibit a range of skills and competencies within every domain of development
  • Children learn through play and the active exploration of their environment
  • Parents are children’s primary and most important caregivers and educators

Curriculum:
We build our curriculum around the child. We are child-centered and believe that all children learn through play together. We use a variety of educational strategies and methods to meet the needs of each student. We have play-based centers as the main component in our classroom. These are designed specifically with each individual student in mind. We use the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards to develop the content of our curriculum and guide our scope and sequence throughout the school year.

As a 3-Year-Old Preschool, we focus on the specific developmental domains and standards that have been created for 3-year-olds in the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards.
