Student Services & Special Ed

Student Services - Special Education

Special education in the Lake Geneva School District offers a continuum of services to students with disabilities from age 3 through age 21. Identification procedures follow state criteria guidelines found on the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) website. Programming is individually designed and enables students who have been identified with a disability to make continuous progress in school.

The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Team addresses the individual needs of students with exceptionalities. Through this process, information is shared pertaining to the student’s strengths and needs and decisions are made concerning accommodations and modifications of the instructional environment and strategies.

Wisconsin Law Change for Identification of Specific Learning Disability

To all Parents:

Wisconsin’s rule for identifying students with specific learning disabilities (SLD) has changed. No later than December 1, 2013, all initial SLD evaluations of public school students will use information from interventions to make eligibility decisions.

This article is to notify you that beginning on December 1, 2013, initial SLD evaluations at Lake Geneva Schools (Star Center Elementary, Eastview Elementary, Central-Denison Elementary, Lake Geneva Middle School, and Badger High School) will begin using information from a student’s response to intensive (RtI), scientific research based or evidence based interventions, when making special education eligibility decisions.

If you have any questions or would like more information on the SLD eligibility criteria or procedures, please contact

Annual School District Performance Report

The Wisconsin School District Performance Report (SDPR) published by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is available on-line through the school district webpage. This report contains the legislatively required Wisconsin School Performance Report data and enables a comparison of data across school districts in the same athletic conference.

Please be aware that most data are school year summary data so these data aren't collected until the summer or fall of the next school year. Examples include attendance, dropouts, graduates, retention, spending etc. Data are posted after all data are received and certain validation and verification steps have been completed. You will normally find school year summary data in the winter or spring of the following school year. This means, for example, that 2012-13 school summary data will be posted in the winter or spring of the 2013-14 school year.

To access this information go to: and search for "school performance." If you do not have access to the internet and would like a copy of the report, please contact our Student Services Secretary at 262-348-1000, x1100 and a copy will be mailed to you.
