2021-22 School Year | Face Coverings/Masks

Good Afternoon,

As we conclude the 2020-2021 school year we are also in preparation for the 2021-2022 school year. We are proud that we were able to keep our schools open this year and are able to provide a healthy, safe environment for all. With that, we will see significant changes to the educational program offered to our students as we begin the 2021-2022 school year. We will be returning all students to an in-person, traditional model for the upcoming school year. We will no longer provide a live streamed option.

It has become evident that for the vast majority of our students, in-person learning is the most effective learning environment. With our health and safety measures along with a much improved public health outlook, we will be returning all students to a five-day, all-day educational model for the 2021-2022 school year. Obviously, this could change if the pandemic situation takes a turn for the worse, but our trends make us feel confident that we will be able to continue the traditional model for the entire 2021-2022 school year.

This traditional five-day, all-day model will be in effect for Badger High School, Lake Geneva Middle School, Star Center Elementary School, Eastview Elementary School and Central-Denison Elementary School.

If a virtual learning option is desired for health concerns or as a preferred learning model, we will still provide for that need through our two Charter Schools. These options will provide a virtual learning environment, but I must emphasize, they will not be live-streamed. A description of our two Charter Schools follows:

  • Maple Park Charter School serves 4K - 8th-grade students and offers a blended learning approach. Each student's personalized learning plan is developed by the teacher on record, along with parent and student input. If you are interested in learning more about Maple Park Charter School, please contact Mrs. Chiper Tennessen at (262) 348-7090 or [email protected].

  • New Visions Charter School serves grades 9 - 12 and provides high school students with the opportunity for an online learning environment with the possibility to take an in-person class or two, pursuing the goal of serving each student’s individual learning needs. If you are interested in learning more about New Visions Charter School, please contact Ms. Jennifer Straus at (262) 348-2000 Ext. 2050 or [email protected].

Face Coverings/Masks:

On Thursday, May 13, 2021, the CDC released updated guidance that fully vaccinated people can resume activities they did before the pandemic, including participating in indoor and outdoor activities – large or small – without wearing a mask or physically distancing. One of the important exceptions to this updated mask guidance was K-12 Schools. As of now, the CDC’s school guidance remains unchanged. Most students are still unvaccinated and as a result, the CDC is advising that teachers, school administrators, staff and visitors should continue to mask and follow physical distancing guidelines until more people and children are vaccinated.

As a result of this guidance, the Lake Geneva Schools (Lake Geneva Jt.#1 and Badger) will continue to require face coverings for ALL students, staff and visitors while inside our school buildings (and on buses) for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. This is consistent with school board action taken to reopen our schools.

We appreciate your support and we will do our best to make next year a successful year for our students.
