3.22.20 Update

May 22, 2020

Dear Lake Geneva Schools Parents & Staff,

On May 13, 2020,  the Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down almost all of the “Safer at Home Order,” Executive Order 28. The Court did not, however, strike down the section of the Safer at Home Order that closed public and private K-12 schools. That section of the Safer at Home Order remains applicable and enforceable. Therefore, the Court’s decision does not reopen school buildings, which remain closed through June 30.

Per our district calendar, the last day of school for students is Friday, June 5, 2020. We will continue providing online learning opportunities until that date, just as we have over the past several weeks. I encourage you to continue to promote this educational opportunity for your children until the conclusion of the school year.

To our teachers and staff, we sincerely appreciate all your efforts to check in with students, provide these important educational resources, and make sure everyone is doing okay. Our students and families will continue to turn to you for guidance and a sense of normalcy as we move forward.

District leaders have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the closing of the 2019-2020 school year, summer school and activities, and plans for returning to school in the fall.  Please see our detailed updates below.

Please know that this is still a very fluid situation, but we are optimistic that we will be able to return to school in some fashion in the Fall. We will strive to provide the best educational program possible in the safest possible environment when we do return.

Thank you for your patience, support of our schools and your children as we proceed down a path never taken before!

Sincerely,

Dr. James Gottinger

District Administrator
