Open Enrollment Information

Thank you for your interest in opening enrolling in Lake Geneva Schools. Open Enrollment allows families to apply for their student(s) to attend school districts other than the one in which they live. Open Enrollment is a one-time application and does not need to be submitted each year.

Who needs to complete an Open Enrollment application?

  • Students living outside of the District (Jt #1/Badger)
  • Students currently attending Lake Geneva Schools (Jt #1/Badger) via Tuition Waiver for the current school year
  • Students who have changed residency to a non-Lake Geneva Schools (Jt #1/Badger) address, between September and April
  • Students planning to move to an address outside of Lake Geneva Schools (Jt #1/Badger) and wishing to stay at a Lake Geneva Schools (Jt #1/Badger) school.

Please follow these steps to apply for open enrollment:

  1. Visit the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website for important open enrollment information, criteria, and FAQ's.
  2. Fill out the online application. (Note: the application will only appear on the site during the open enrollment window)
  3. Lake Geneva Schools will notify you in writing via US Mail in early June to let you know whether your open enrollment application has been approved or denied and provide the next steps.
  4. Questions? Please contact Kathleen Adams at 262-348-1000, ext. 1100.
  5. If you miss the open enrollment window and would like to apply for an exception application, please visit Alternative Open Enrollment Application & Resources

School Messenger

School Messenger is the system we use to send mass emails and phone calls to parents. By enrolling a student into the school district, your email and home phone are automatically able to receive mass email messages and all-calls generated by the district.

School Messenger also has the capability to send mass text messages to your handheld device. This is an opt-in program. By responding with a "Y" to the shortcode provided in the invitation text sent occasionally by the district, you will be enrolled and begin receiving text messages from the district. To receive an opt-in text, you must share your cell phone number and designate it as your home phone number in PowerSchool. You may opt out of any of these communications at any time by contacting:
