4.24.20 Update

April 24, 2020

Good Afternoon Lake Geneva Schools Families:

On Thursday, April 16, 2020, Governor Evers announced that all schools will be closed through the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Additionally, the Governor's Safer-At-Home order has been extended through Tuesday, May 26. Click here to read the full Safer at Home Order from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

Though our school buildings and grounds are closed, Lake Geneva Schools Virtual Learning will continue through the last regularly-scheduled school day on June 5, 2020. We will continue to follow the 2019-2020 Academic Calendar, resulting in no virtual learning on May 1st (Teacher In-Service Day) and no school on May 25th for Memorial Day. Our staff and students have done a fine job of adjusting to this new learning environment. I encourage you to continue to promote this educational opportunity for your children to the conclusion of the school year.

We are working on developing a plan for our end of the year celebrations and ceremonies. We are in high hopes of having high school graduation and many other important events. However, it should be obvious by now, that those events may have to have dates adjusted or be held in a virtual environment, or both. With the ever-changing health news and regulations regarding this pandemic, we will continue to monitor and inform you of changes in as timely as possible manner. It should also be obvious that some events may not be able to take place based upon health directives from State, Federal or local authorities. However, those decisions have not yet been made and the ever-changing health information will help us form our plans to conclude the school year as successfully as possible. Details regarding graduation and other upcoming events during May will be provided as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience in this regard and a special acknowledgment to our Seniors for handling this situation in a respectful, responsible manner. You have every right to be disappointed. We will do our best to acknowledge your successes and the culmination of your 4K-12 education. You all deserve that.

Please see below for additional important details. We hope everyone is continuing to stay safe. We also thank our staff, students and parents for your continued dedication to learning in a virtual environment. Together, we will get through this.

Sincerely,

Dr. James Gottinger

District Administrator
